I think I'll just respond to the questions off the MILI blog:
- Do you have a current Web page? How do you use it?
Yes. It can be seen at
Chaska Middle School West Media Center (and I just realized that I didn't update my Eduardo pictures yesterday . . . oh well). I use it as a jumping-off point for virtually all my lessons. I am trying to make it more user-friendly, since it currently requires an excessive amount of scrolling.
- How do your students react to the idea of a teacher Web page?
I think they take it for granted - they expect to find info online. I wish we (as a staff) were more consistent. Sometimes kids need to go to a team page, sometimes to an individual teacher's page, sometimes to another place - all to find the same basic type of info.
- Do you have recommendations for teachers/LMS who are going to set up a Web page?
KISS (Keep It Simple, Silly). I tend to be very wordy, and I'm not very good at putting my grandiose ideas into practical application. As I've worked on improving my site, I have to admit that part of me puts it as a lower priority, since there's a good chance we'll be doing district-wide upgrades. We saw a demo at the last tech / media meeting of the software the elementaries have been piloting (can't think of the name of it right now, but it's in my notes) and it looked really slick!
