I refuse to get "blogger's guilt"

I've been reading and commenting on others' blogs, but not adding much content myself. I guess I felt as though I didn't have much to say!

One reflection has to do with the Ancient Egypt that Sarah and I did a few weeks ago . . . it was so great to see some kids actually try the search strategies and/or databases that we showed them. Some just lapsed back into lazy habits, but many of them really learned some new skills. The way Sarah structured the assignment, they truly had to think about their topic and not just locate & regurgitate facts. It was a very fun project to work on.

But it also made me think. Here were 210 kids (with Elizabeth's two sections of Loons) getting to work on these skills. What about the rest of our eighth grade? Thankfully, Kate Kramer and I were getting ready to work on her scientific methodology project. I told her that it was important to me that all her students got some of the same tools (search strategies, databases, and EasyBib.com) that Sarah's students had. She is a wonderful collaborator, and we're working together to make sure that all our eighth graders are working on their research skills.

Never one to be content with how things are, I still want to find a way to connect with our seventh graders . . . I either need to be more creative, or more devious.

Hmmmm, I've been finding myself typing, "I agree with Jeanne . . . " a lot lately as I comment on blogs :)
