Literacy - response to TechKnowLogia article
The most interesting part of this article, to me, was the author. The president of Toshiba brings a "real world" perspective to this issue of literacy. It reminded me of an article that I just read in the U of M's IT magazine sent out to parents. One businessman is touting the importance for all these tech weenies (my words, not his) to learn some people skills, the ability to collaborate, etc. Too true. If someone is a techie wizard, but cannot connect their knowledge with other people, they aren't very helpful in a system - whether it's a business or some other organization. It will be interesting to see how our educational system, our economy, and our government respond to the increasingly technological world. Last year, my PLC read The World Is Flat. That really made me think about how we need to change our way of thinking about the world.
